This is probably the most favorite recipe of Punjabis of India, I have seen my Punjabi friends getting upset when they do not get to eat Rajma for long time. Rajma tastes so good if made properly. You should surely give it a try!!

Preparation Steps of PUNJABI RAJMA RECIPE | RED KIDNEY BEANS RECIPE FROM INDIA


  1. Put four cups of water, one cup of red kidney beans (Rajma), add1 teaspoon salt in pressure cooker and heat it till cooker blows 7 whistles.
  2. Simultaneously put garlic, ginger, onion, cardamom (Illaichi) in a grinder and grind it well.
  3. Chop tomatoes also.
  4. Start heating oil in cooking pah, once oil is sufficiently hot add the mixture you prepared in step -2. Add chopped tomatoes after 2-4 minutes.
  5. let the mixture heat for 1-2 minutes more.
  6. Empty the Rajma from pressure cooker into cooking pan, if you want to make Rajma more watery add more water at this stage.
  7. Add salt as per your taste and add milk cream now. let it simmer for 2-4 minutes with closed lid.
  8. Now you recipe is ready to serve, you could garnish it with milk cream and coriander.
