Introduction of Pesto The Traditional Italian Sauce


Pesto comes from the Liguria region in north-west Italy. It is most commonly used to top Pasta, but it is also be used in salad dressing, sandwiches, risotto, pizza topping and with meat to add an amazing flavor.

Here is a quick recipe which yields 4 cups. This homemade Pesto lasts for 5-7 Days in the refrigerator and saving it for a longer duration you can keep it in the freezer.

Preparation Steps of Pesto The Traditional Italian Sauce


1. Place the pine nuts and garlic in the bowl of a food processor and process for 30 seconds.

2. Add the fresh basil leaves, and salt and pepper and grind for a few seconds.

3. Add extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and parmesan and process until the pesto is thoroughly pureed. 

Serve, or store the pesto in the refrigerator or freezer with a thin film of olive oil on top.

Note : Some people like a thick & less creamy consistency, for that grind less or use mortar-pestle for the perfect texture ;)
