Preparation of Kugelis - Potato Pudding Recipe from Lithuania

1. First, preheat your oven to 200 C (400 F). 

2. Grate the potatoes and put them in a large mixing bowl along with salt and egg. Mix them all thoroughly

3. Take an 8 to 10 inch oven pan. Melt clarified butter and pour it into it

4. Now add the potato mix into the pan with clarified butter. Even out the top surface wiht a spatula

5. Put it in oven and let it bake without any cover.

6. Within a maximum of 20 minutes, the potato mix will turn nice golden brown shade.

7. Take the pan out of oven. Cover it with a large place and swiftly reverse it such that the Potato mix mould will sit on the plate. The unbaked side now will be on top.

8. Place the potato mix mound into the baking tin and place it in the oven

9. Bake it for another 20 minutes, maximum, to bake the other side

10. While the half is being backed, melt butter in a pan and put in the thin slices of onion. Fry the onion rings until they are golden brown. Ensure not to burn them.

11. When Potato Pudding is baked, take it out and place on a pre warmed serving plate. Spread the crisply fried onion rings on the pudding, distributing them evenly.
