In India, famous cabbage-based dishes are Cabbage paratha, Cabbage dry subji (curry), cabbage poriyal etc.

Chana dal or Bengal gram is a yellow colour lentil (dal/Pappu) which has  high protein content. You can simply roast it, make dal fry and chana dal vada are a must in the rainy season. Chana dal powder or besan is also a popular ingredient in Indian cooking.

This great cabbage and chana dal combo is a quick and easy to make dish. The chana dal adds a crunch to the soft cabbage. And if you add grated coconut, you have a yummy treat ready.

Firstly, cook the chana dal (senega Pappu) and cabbage with turmeric powder, red chilli powder and water in a pressure cooker. Now separate the water and boiled cabbage and chana dal. Take a pan. Prepare a basic tadka with jeera, green chillies and other lentils. Add the cabbage-chana dal mix. Stir it properly and leave it for 3 minutes.

Now, top with fresh coriander leaves and grated coconut.

Your cabbage chana dal curry is now ready.

Note: You can use moong dal instead of chana dal.
