What is the list of foods to avoid at night and why?

As established earlier in the article, eating healthy at night is completely acceptable. But what is healthy? Many consider pizza, burgers, tacos, wraps and burritos to be healthy because of veggies and meat in it.

It may be partially true! These foods are perfect as a daytime meal. However, they are extremely unhealthy after sunset. Following are a list of highly dangerous foods that one should avoid consuming at night.

  1. FRUITS – The most highly ranked unhealthy evening foods are fruits. The fructose in the fruits does not get a chance to work into glucose for the body. Since evenings involve a lot of resting time followed by the long night’s sleep, sugar in the fruits does not burn into glucose. They are stored by the body and causes fat retention and liquid retention. These directly contribute to a weight gain and most importantly fat addition.
  1. FAST FOODS – Fast foods are high on carbs and fat. They are the best option when on a run and in a hurry during the daytime. However, they are the worst option for supper or dinner. The carbs and the fat in fast foods often contain polyunsaturated fats. These fats (or any fats, as a matter of fact) are incredibly dangerous to an inactive body. Fats are meant to be burnt. And yes sleeping does increase your metabolism and burn fat to a moderate extent. But the carbs in your food get stored by your body. This directly leads to unattractive fat deposits in the body and in your blood.
  1. SUGAR – Sugar is a very dangerous ingredient. They must be avoided at all times not just at nights. The granulated white sugar undergoes many refining process which washes away all the goodness in them. They are pure evil to your body. Although 2 teaspoons of sugar are mandatory for your body, ensure to consume jaggery or dark brown sugar. The darker your palm sugar, jaggery and brown sugar, the healthier it is.
  1. CHOCOLATE – Chocolates a rich source of sugar, fat, carbs and cocoa, the best anti-depressant. This combination of macros is amazing for those who have heavy activities during the day. And is the best to eat it during the daytime. However, at night, they are very wrong in your biological system. The anti-depressant nature of cocoa tends to drive people into insomnia. Are you aware that the darker the chocolate, the healthier it is for your liver and kidney? Well, this is applicable only during the days. Dark chocolates are very bad for your body if consumed after sunset.
